The great thinker and Rhodes Scholar E. F. Schumacher believed that all through school and university we are given guidance about life and knowledge and generally this guidance had little relevance to the things that we care about or the way we conduct our lives – the way life is really lived.
The ACADEMi of Life (TAOL) is a social enterprise and a place of higher learning offering a fascinating look at human nature through discussions of life’s big questions around love, family, work, money, existence, and living. The purpose of The ACADEMi of Life is to deliver meaningful events to stimulate thinking, to deepen our lives and our understanding of ourselves, making the world a better place. It’s where people come to talk about the things they care about, the things that matter most in life that they did not learn in school.
At The ACADEMi of Life we believe and studies have shown that emotional competencies such as resilience, empathy, self-awareness, adaptability and making social connection, are twice as important in contributing to excellence as pure intellect and expertise. This belief is the genesis for our Logo.
The attendees of The ACADEMi of Life are curious, open, lifelong learners who are eager to discuss ideas of enduring importance to enrich their lives. We know that there is no work more important that the inner personal development and the mental and emotional well-being of a human being.
